Associate Counsel - Queens, NY (Remote) (Insurance Defense)

Location: Remote within the United States; coverage of venues within Queens, NY, with travel required for trials, hearings, depositions, meetings, and conferences.

Annual salary: $118,900–$186,550.

What you will do

• Defend lawsuits filed in New York courts and handle first-party insurance defense matters.
• Research laws and prepare legal briefs, opinions, and memoranda.
• Provide opinions on liability, damages, and case value for the Claims Department.
• Prepare and handle pleadings, motions, discovery, depositions, examinations before trial, and examinations under oath.
• Defend assigned matters through trial or dispositive hearings.

Requirements

• 2–6+ years of related litigation experience in insurance defense and/or personal injury.
• Juris Doctor degree required.
• Admission to the New York Bar and an active license in good standing are required.
• Maintain applicable licensing and Continuing Legal Education requirements.
• Ability to travel as required for trials, hearings, depositions, management meetings, and conferences.
• Strong written communication, organization, prioritization, multitasking, conflict resolution, and ability to apply complex technical and procedural information.

Nice to have

• Civil litigation experience.
• Insurance defense-related litigation experience.
• Professional communication skills in person, by telephone, and in written correspondence or email.
