Senior Paralegal - Insurance Defense

Location: St. Louis, Missouri, with a potential hybrid work schedule. Applications from candidates working in Overland Park, Kansas may occasionally be considered. Occasional travel and overtime may be required. This role does not qualify for employer-sponsored work authorization, and hirify.global does not participate in the STEM OPT extension program.

Salary: $62,500–$115,500 annually. Expected starting salary range: $62,500–$93,500 annually.

What you will do

• Provide pre-trial and trial support for litigated insurance defense matters involving commercial and personal lines policies.
• Draft, review, file, and serve pleadings, motions, discovery responses, subpoenas, and document production materials.
• Review and summarize medical records, prepare medical chronologies, and draft deposition summaries for fact and expert witnesses.
• Coordinate depositions, hearings, meetings, client communications, and interactions with expert witnesses.
• Retrieve case information, review court dockets, assemble exhibits and trial binders, and maintain filing and follow-up systems.
• Support litigation strategy, case progression, technology adoption, confidentiality, and legal team administration.

Requirements

• Approximately five years of paralegal experience with demonstrated insurance-related litigation experience.
• Insurance defense experience is required.
• Strong knowledge of property and casualty insurance defense and/or subrogation law, legal concepts, terminology, and processes.
• Experience with court filing and scheduling procedures, federal and state e-filing systems, and e-Court systems.
• Strong research, organization, communication, prioritization, multitasking, and independent judgment skills.
• Must comply with the ethical rules of the state where the position is located and pass a required credit and/or background check.

Nice to have

• Certification in paralegal studies.
• Undergraduate studies in business administration, insurance, or a related area.
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Legal Files, case management databases, and personal and commercial lines policies.
