Sr Data Privacy & AI Counsel (AI)

Location: Remote, United States

Salary: $121,884.70–$191,533.10 per year, plus eligibility for an annual incentive plan.

What you will do

• Serve as the primary legal advisor on privacy, data security, and AI governance matters.
• Build and maintain privacy and AI compliance programs, including responsible AI, automated decision-making, and emerging AI regulations.
• Advise product and engineering teams on data practices, privacy impact assessments, AI risk assessments, and vendor implementations.
• Lead privacy and security incident response, breach notification analysis, regulatory reporting, and responses to data protection authorities.
• Draft, negotiate, and review data processing agreements, BAAs, and privacy-related contract provisions.
• Partner with information security on risk assessments, security policies, and SOC 2 and ISO 27001 compliance certifications.

Requirements

• JD from an accredited law school and active bar membership in good standing.
• 5–7+ years of legal experience, including at least 3 years focused on privacy, data security, or technology law.
• Working knowledge of CCPA/CPRA, GDPR, and HIPAA where applicable.
• Familiarity with the EU AI Act, NIST AI RMF, and state AI legislation.
• Experience with incident response, breach notification processes, and translating technical and regulatory complexity into practical business guidance.
• Experience managing or mentoring junior team members.

Nice to have

• CIPP/US, CIPP/E, or CIPM certification.
