Managing Legal Counsel - Privacy (AI)

Location: Owings Mills, Maryland, United States; hybrid work with up to one day per week from home.

Base salary: $174,000–$297,000 annually for Maryland, Colorado, Washington, and remote workers. Additional salary ranges apply to Washington, D.C., New York, and California.

What you will do

• Advise on product development and business initiatives, incorporating privacy-by-design and security-by-design principles.
• Draft, review, and negotiate data processing agreements, privacy and security addenda, vendor agreements, investment management agreements, and AdTech contracts.
• Provide legal guidance on U.S., European, and APAC privacy regulations, including CCPA/CPRA, GDPR, PDPA, PDPO, APPI, and Australia’s Privacy Act.
• Advise on privacy and broader AI legal issues related to enterprise AI use cases, tools, and systems.
• Lead privacy impact assessments, data mapping, records of processing activities, and privacy policy and training initiatives.
• Coordinate responses to privacy and data security incidents, including regulatory notifications and remediation.

Requirements

• J.D. from an accredited law school and active membership in at least one U.S. state bar.
• 10+ years of relevant professional experience.
• Deep knowledge of U.S. privacy laws and familiarity with global privacy frameworks.
• Experience drafting and negotiating complex data, privacy, and technology contracts.
• Strong communication, negotiation, teamwork, and stakeholder-management skills in a global organization.
• Ability to independently manage complex cross-functional projects and provide practical, business-oriented legal advice.

Nice to have

• Prior in-house legal experience.
• Experience in asset management or financial services with global coverage.
• Privacy certification such as CIPP/US, CIPP/A, CIPM, or CIPT.
