What you will do

  • Prepare medication orders by compounding and admixing chemotherapy and non-chemotherapy IV medications under supervision.
  • Check orders for completeness, patient information, and physician authorization before preparation.
  • Calculate dosage volumes and convert between metric and apothecary measurements.
  • Maintain controlled-substance records, temperature logs, inventory documentation, lot numbers, and expiration dates.
  • Perform daily hood cleaning, medication expiry checks, admixture-area maintenance, and other quality assurance activities.
  • Support labeling, basic data entry, pre-billing review, and ordering of medications and supplies.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Entry-level experience in a pharmacy.
  • Certified Pharmacy Technician certification is recommended unless required by state law.
  • Ability to read measurements, maintain manual and finger dexterity, and stand or sit for extended periods.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and carry items weighing up to 40 pounds.
  • Ability to work with potential exposure to toxic substances, medicinal preparations, and chemotherapeutic agents.
