Resident Engineer (Highway Construction)

Location: Houston, Texas, United States; field-based construction oversight for highway and transportation infrastructure projects.

What you will do

• Provide engineering expertise and management oversight for construction projects.
• Prepare project budgets and schedules and track fiscal budgets and cash flow.
• Plan, prepare, analyze, and manage construction contract documents.
• Coordinate contractors, consultants, inspectors, subcontractors, crafts, and client stakeholders.
• Manage project quality assurance, quality control, inspection services, and construction engineering programs.
• Coordinate field survey and layout work and manage project personnel, workloads, facilities, vehicles, equipment, and other resources.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a closely related field.
• 10 years of related construction experience, including estimating, bidding, purchase orders, subcontracts, scheduling, and field engineering.
• Professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the position location, such as a PE or P.Eng license.
• Experience with Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, estimating and scheduling software, and web-based document collaboration software.
• Experience developing and managing construction engineering and inspection programs.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and active participation in an employee-owned culture.

Nice to have

• Previous HCTRA or TxDOT experience.
• Previous Tollway experience.
