Data Platform Infrastructure Manager

Location: United States

Base salary for US-based employees: $124,700–$210,158 per year. Total compensation may include a corporate or role-specific bonus and potential equity participation.

What you will do

• Lead the team responsible for the runtime and platform layer supporting batch, streaming, analytics, and machine learning workloads.
• Own the availability, scalability, security, performance, lifecycle, and cost efficiency of shared services including Airflow, Flink, Spark on AWS EMR, Kafka, Snowflake, and Iceberg.
• Set technical strategy, prioritize roadmap and operational work, review service health and incidents, and make architecture and investment trade-offs.
• Build paved roads, self-service capabilities, configuration as code, CI/CD, observability, automation, and standardized delivery workflows.
• Partner with data engineering, Developer Platform, SRE, Observability, Security, and Infrastructure teams.
• Develop the team through coaching, performance expectations, hiring plans, and career development.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• Experience managing a cloud infrastructure, platform engineering, SRE, or data infrastructure team responsible for business-critical production services.
• 5+ years of production experience with AWS and 3+ years with Kubernetes and containerized workloads.
• Experience reviewing and troubleshooting Python, Go, Java, or comparable software, along with infrastructure as code, preferably Terraform, and modern CI/CD or GitOps practices.
• Hands-on experience operating production data platforms at scale, with depth in Airflow, Kafka, Flink, Spark, AWS EMR, Snowflake, and/or Iceberg as shared services.
• Experience with ML systems and operational lifecycles, SLOs, observability, incident response, capacity planning, disaster recovery, cloud cost management, and internal platforms as products.

Nice to have

• Experience with Databricks.
• Familiarity with AWS SageMaker or equivalent ML platforms.
• Working knowledge of modern LLM capabilities and AI-assisted engineering practices.
• Experience with Agile or similar iterative planning and delivery practices.
