Engineering Manager, Data

Location: Hybrid in New York City; three days per week in the NYC office on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

Salary: $180,000–$210,000 annual base salary, plus equity and benefits.

What you will do

• Lead, mentor, and grow a team of three data analysts and engineers.
• Own the data platform, including pipelines, warehouse, transformation layer, BI tooling, reliability, and scalability.
• Define and maintain metrics covering enrollment, engagement, completion, certification, placement, CAC, LTV, and retention.
• Build dashboards and self-serve analytics for teams across the company.
• Partner with Growth and Product on experimentation, including A/B test design, instrumentation, and analysis.
• Deliver strategic deep-dive analyses, write production SQL and Python, and establish data governance and quality practices.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience across analytics and data engineering.
• At least 2+ years of experience managing a team.
• Experience as a hands-on player-coach who sets direction, manages people, and ships individual work.
• Expert-level SQL and strong Python skills.
• Hands-on experience with modern data tools such as dbt, Snowflake or BigQuery, Airflow, and Looker or Metabase.
• Strong product and business judgment, experimentation experience, and communication skills for explaining complex findings to non-technical stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Experience building or scaling a data function at an early- or growth-stage startup.
• Experience with marketing attribution or funnel analytics at scale.
• Experience in EdTech, healthcare, or another mission-driven industry.
