Engineer Intern - Software (C++)

Location: Dodge Center, Minnesota, United States

Pay range: $18.00–$37.00 per hour

McNeilus, an Oshkosh company, designs and manufactures refuse truck bodies and vehicle systems for waste collection fleets.

What you will do

• Write quality, maintainable object-oriented C++ software for vehicle control systems.
• Develop and maintain PC programs used to configure truck-specific programming.
• Develop, test, troubleshoot, and reprogram software for vehicles and related systems.
• Identify and control vehicle operation and maintenance risks.
• Prepare and maintain software documentation for truck-specific configurations.
• Participate in peer reviews and other engineering activities.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize workload, and adapt to changing needs or tight deadlines.
• Detail-oriented and quality-focused approach.
• Strong academic record; GPA of 3.0.
• Applicants for certain positions may need to be U.S. Persons because of controlled goods and technology regulations.

Nice to have

• Experience with C, C++, or a similar programming language.
• Experience writing embedded applications for microcontrollers.
• Experience with Controller Area Network and the J1939 protocol.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, SharePoint, and other web-based software applications.
