Embedded Software Engineer Internship (Embedded Systems)

Location: Onsite at the hirify.global campus in Pella, Iowa, USA; occasional travel is expected.

What you will do

• Develop and test embedded software for real-time control systems using C, C++, or MATLAB/Simulink.
• Integrate and debug control systems using CAN protocols, including SAE J1939, and tools such as CANalyzer or Vector CANoe.
• Support Human-Machine Interface development and UI/UX design with Qt or LabVIEW.
• Participate in Agile development, DevOps workflows, and CI/CD using Git and GitHub.
• Contribute to system validation, technical documentation, PLM workflows, and ECN processes.
• Support the application of functional safety standards, including ISO 26262 and IEC 61508.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• Coursework or hands-on project experience with embedded programming and control systems.
• Interest in robotics, automation, and software development for intelligent equipment.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, and collaboration skills, with a growth mindset.
• Ability to work onsite at the Pella, Iowa campus and travel occasionally.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with CAN protocols and HMI development.
• Experience with real-time operating systems such as FreeRTOS or VxWorks.
