Professional Engineer, Structural - Commercial & Industrial Facilities

Location: Duluth, Minnesota, United States; hybrid schedule with Tuesday–Thursday in the office and Monday–Friday working from home. Travel of up to 20% may be required for team meetings, client consultations, and site inspections.

Salary: $87,000–$130,000 per year.

What you will do

• Analyze and design structural systems for industrial facilities, educational buildings, mining structures, commercial developments, university campuses, and government buildings.
• Prepare structural plans and specifications in accordance with applicable design standards and quality assurance procedures.
• Coordinate structural designs with Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, and Architectural professionals.
• Lead multidisciplinary projects and serve as a technical point of contact for clients.
• Mentor and develop less experienced structural engineering professionals.
• Support business development through proposal writing, fee estimates, and marketing activities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with a structural emphasis.
• Professional Engineer license and 5–15 years of experience designing buildings and building-type structures.
• Strong working knowledge of steel, cast-in-place concrete, masonry, and precast concrete design.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD and Revit, plus proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Experience coordinating structural designs in multidisciplinary teams and communicating effectively with clients and project members.
• Authorization to work in the United States without current or future visa sponsorship.

Nice to have

• Experience with heavy industrial or mining projects.
• Experience coaching, mentoring, and developing EITs or recent Professional Engineers.
• Experience managing client communications and relationships.
• Business development experience, including proposals and fee estimates.
