Structural Staff Engineer

Location: San Diego, California, USA; full-time office work with a hybrid work schedule. Travel: 10% nationally.

Salary: $90,000–$105,000 USD per year, plus performance-based bonuses.

What you will do

• Deliver full life-cycle building design from project kickoff through construction document production and construction oversight.
• Prepare complete and technically accurate engineering reports, calculations, and drawings.
• Assist clients with technical design issues and coordinate document preparation and submittals.
• Design building foundations, framing systems, and lateral systems.
• Use RISA, Enercalc, RAM, Bluebeam, and Revit to produce construction drawings.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in architectural, structural, or civil engineering with a structural engineering emphasis from an ABET-accredited school.
• Passed the F.E. exam; a California PE license is strongly preferred.
• 2–5 years of related experience in building design.
• Experience with building foundations, framing systems, and lateral system design.
• Strong time management skills and a self-starter approach.
• Ability to work full-time in the San Diego office under the stated hybrid schedule.

Nice to have

• Critical facility experience.
• Experience with Revit.
• High-seismic structural design experience for SDC D, E, or F.
• High-wind or blast-resistant design experience.
