Treaty Underwriting Analyst

What you will do

• Oversee day-to-day business operations for an assigned reinsurance portfolio segment and ensure statutory and internal control requirements are met.
• Verify contract terms and conditions against agreed deal parameters and internal guidelines.
• Track deal lifecycle milestones, coordinate handoffs, and enter contractual deal information into systems used by Finance, Accounting, Claims, and Reserving.
• Analyze submission and treaty exposure data, investigate discrepancies, identify material year-over-year changes, and maintain costing tools.
• Communicate with clients to clarify data queries, follow up on outstanding issues, and potentially support negotiations.
• Support portfolio overviews and data-driven analysis for informed underwriting decisions.

Requirements

• University degree in natural science or a quantitative field such as Economics, Statistics, Engineering, or Actuarial Sciences.
• At least three years of experience in the Property & Casualty reinsurance or insurance industry.
• Strong data expertise and attention to detail, including practical experience working with large data files such as modelling data.
• Expert-level Microsoft Excel skills and competence with Microsoft 365, including Power BI, SharePoint, PowerPoint, and Word.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate data issues, identify root causes, and communicate findings clearly.
• Ability to prioritize competing tasks and collaborate across functions, time zones, and cultures.

Nice to have

• Experience with data modelling or underwriting.
• Familiarity with reinsurance systems used for deal entry, exposure tracking, or portfolio reporting.
• Experience working in geographically dispersed or cross-functional teams.
• Adaptability, curiosity, and an interest in developing new solutions and ways of working.
