Sr. Buyer, EMI - Meat & Cheese

Location: Chicago/Aon Center, United States; hybrid schedule with virtual work permitted up to two days per week and in-person work required at least three days per week. Moderate travel to customer locations, stores, and manufacturing facilities is expected.

New hire base salary: $89,800–$112,200 per year, plus eligibility for a performance-based bonus.

What you will do

• Manage external manufacturing sourcing and supplier management activities for the Meat and Cheese categories.
• Support supplier identification, bidding, negotiations, contracting coordination, implementation, and performance monitoring.
• Manage supplier interactions, issue resolution, escalations, service support, and relationship management activities.
• Deliver productivity, inflation management, cash, service, total cost, and supply continuity priorities.
• Identify supply chain risks, develop mitigation strategies, and support capacity management and business continuity planning.
• Coordinate with Operations, Finance, Quality, R&D, Legal, and Supply Chain partners to execute category plans and improve processes.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, business, finance, operations, engineering, or a related field.
• Solid procurement experience, ideally involving external manufacturing, finished goods, ingredients, packaging, CAPEX, or related categories.
• Experience with sourcing, supplier relationships, negotiations, contracting coordination, and operational follow-through.
• Strong organizational, communication, stakeholder management, problem-solving, and execution skills.
• Growing capability in category and supplier management, including performance drivers, risks, and business implications.
• Advanced Microsoft Office proficiency and familiarity with source-to-pay tools such as SAP, Ariba, Workday, and related systems.
