Sr. Buyer - Defense & Space Manufacturing

Location: Hollister, California, United States. Onsite role. U.S. citizenship or qualifying U.S. person status is required for contractual and export-control purposes, or candidates must collaborate on obtaining the necessary U.S. government authorizations.

Salary: $73,100–$135,700 per year, plus eligibility for a bonus.

What you will do

• Manage purchase orders, blanket orders, pricing, lead times, transportation terms, and long-term supply arrangements.
• Manage supplier performance, corrective actions, shortages, push-outs, escalations, and material obsolescence.
• Evaluate suppliers, develop sourcing strategies, negotiate costs and terms, and maintain competitive sources.
• Coordinate engineering, manufacturing, and quality requirements, including source transitions and part qualification.
• Lead root-cause analysis, continuous-improvement events, audits, standard-work initiatives, and change management.
• Train and mentor other buyers while ensuring procurement and export-control compliance.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Business or a related field, or 5+ years of related experience in lieu of a degree.
• 3+ years of purchasing experience in an aerospace environment or equivalent experience.
• At least 3 years of experience working in an MRP environment.
• Strong negotiation skills and the ability to influence suppliers and internal stakeholders.
• Experience with FAR/DFAR requirements, CPSR, and DCMA Small Business audits.
• U.S. citizenship or qualifying U.S. person status, or the ability to obtain required U.S. government export authorizations.

Nice to have

• Working knowledge of Kanban.
• CPM and/or APICS certification.
