Engineering Manager (Automotive)

Pay range: $92,600–$154,400 per year

What you will do

• Lead the Operations Engineering team responsible for manufacturing process development, facility design, and capital investments.
• Plan and monitor major projects, including staffing, budgets, milestones, capital equipment, tooling, fixtures, and make-or-buy decisions.
• Develop production processes, cost estimates, line-balancing plans, manpower requirements, and capacity/resource plans.
• Lead plant layout and workstation design while incorporating ergonomics, safety, and OSHA requirements.
• Manage and develop manufacturing, process, and industrial engineers.
• Establish and improve safety, quality, productivity, and efficiency standards while reporting operational performance and financial forecasts.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering.
• Seven or more years of experience in operations engineering or a related field.
• Three or more years of experience leading a team of direct reports.
• Experience with manufacturing process development, facility or process design, and operational performance management.

Nice to have

• Experience in heavy industrial or automotive manufacturing.
• Proficiency in line balancing, capacity planning, value-stream mapping, problem solving, and process improvement.
• Experience leading medium- and large-scale operations using lean principles and developing visual work instructions.
• Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
• Knowledge of 3D simulation tools such as FlexSim or Simul8, and shop floor management or MES systems such as ProPlanner or Siemens.
