Sr. Engineering Manager - Payments

Salary: $221,000–$260,000 annually, plus equity eligibility

What you will do

• Lead two Payments teams consisting of individual contributors and Engineering Managers.
• Partner with staff and principal engineers to evolve the Payments architecture and decouple payment capabilities from business logic.
• Improve metrics, instrumentation, observability, performance, reliability, and operational health across payment features and workflows.
• Own engineering outcomes and partnerships for third-party payment vendor integrations.
• Enable payment capabilities in agentic workflows and support the adoption of AI-assisted development practices.
• Partner with Product and Commercial to prioritize payment capabilities, performance improvements, and foundational architecture investments.

Requirements

• 8+ years of professional engineering experience.
• 3+ years of engineering management experience, including experience managing managers.
• Experience owning third-party vendor integrations and business-critical production systems.
• Strong cross-functional partnership and communication skills, with the ability to navigate ambiguity, tradeoffs, and competing priorities.
• Experience in payments, fintech, or a closely related domain.
• Experience modernizing or decoupling complex production systems.

• Experience supporting agentic or AI-enabled workflows at scale.
• Experience driving adoption of agentic development practices and AI-assisted tooling.
• Experience improving team execution and developing Engineering Managers and individual contributors.
