Engineering Manager (AI/ML)

Location: United States (Remote)

Salary: $200,000–$235,000 annually, plus eligible stock options and an annual performance bonus of up to 10% of base salary.

What you will do

• Lead, coach, and grow an engineering team responsible for machine learning models and production services.
• Own roadmap delivery across feature development, technical debt, reliability, quality, testing, and monitoring.
• Drive architecture discussions, design reviews, technical decisions, and implementation closure.
• Manage priorities, risks, capacity, and roadmap communication across engineering, AI, product, and risk management stakeholders.
• Champion responsible and cost-effective use of AI tools for research, administration, code generation, and decision-making.
• Recruit engineers and develop technical leadership, career paths, psychological safety, and accountability within the team.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience as a software engineer, including experience in the machine learning domain.
• At least 4 years of direct engineering management experience in an ML-focused environment; this must not be a first management role.
• Technical fluency in architecture, data flows, system design, software development practices, cloud computing, big data, MLOps, and SLO-driven reliability management.
• Professional experience using AI tools for research, administration, and code generation, with a responsible and cost-effective approach.
• Strong stakeholder management, communication, influencing, prioritization, and constructive pushback skills.
• Experience developing engineers through structured feedback, career paths, and high standards for quality and accountability.

Nice to have

• Experience with Databricks, Spark, Airflow, Vertex, or the broader GCP technology stack.
