Senior Commissioning Authority (Smart Buildings)

Location: Hybrid work in Minneapolis, Washington, D.C., Orlando, Dallas, or Fort Worth, United States; four days in the office with flexibility to work elsewhere on Fridays. Travel approximately 10–30% per month.

Salary: $100,800–$177,320 USD annually.

What you will do

• Act as project manager for multiple national and international building commissioning projects across workplace, federal, education, hospitality, healthcare, justice, civic, and mixed-use sectors.
• Lead commissioning activities across design, construction, and delivery phases while managing multiple trades and client relationships.
• Review design and construction documents against the Owner’s Project Requirements and Basis of Design.
• Oversee commissioning plans, specifications, pre-functional checklists, and functional performance testing.
• Provide subject matter expertise on MEP, building automation, energy use, indoor environmental quality, operations, and maintenance.
• Mentor junior staff and support business development through client meetings, relationship building, and presentations.

Requirements

• 15+ years of hands-on experience commissioning building systems.
• Strong knowledge of building design and construction, including commissioning for new construction, major renovations, and existing buildings.
• Technical expertise in MEP and building automation systems, including system performance evaluation and testing.
• In-depth understanding of energy use, indoor environmental quality, building operations, and maintenance.
• Commissioning certification from a recognized body such as ACG, BCA, or ASHRAE.
• Strong written, oral, organizational, computer, time-management, and self-direction skills.

Nice to have

• Licensed Professional Engineer.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
• Familiarity with, or willingness to learn, SkySpark for connected and monitoring-based commissioning.
