Commissioning Project Manager (Building Systems)

Location: Remote, United States; travel up to 75%

Salary: $110,000–$140,000 USD per year, plus performance-based bonuses

What you will do

• Serve as the primary client contact and commissioning authority for assigned projects.
• Lead commissioning strategy for complex, multi-system projects from pursuit through warranty.
• Develop scopes of work, schedules, fee estimates, commissioning plans, test procedures, and project documentation.
• Lead design reviews, OPR workshops, planning meetings, site observations, system testing, and issue resolution.
• Manage project budgets, schedules, deliverables, invoicing support, forecasting, resource alignment, safety, and quality requirements.
• Provide technical guidance, mentor commissioning staff, and lead closeout reports, systems manuals, and warranty walkthroughs.

Requirements

• 10–12 years of progressive experience in commissioning, MEP construction, or project management, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant experience; a high school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Demonstrated experience independently leading complex commissioning projects and managing multiple projects concurrently.
• Advanced knowledge of building systems, construction documents, drawings, local energy codes, LEED commissioning requirements, and industry standards.
• Strong client-facing communication, relationship management, analytical, problem-solving, decision-making, budgeting, scheduling, and contract skills.
• People management experience, including performance feedback, timekeeping oversight, onboarding, development, and coordination with HR.

Nice to have

• Project Management Professional certification.
• Professional Engineer license.
• Building Commissioning certification.
• Experience with Building Automation Systems (BAS).
• OSHA 10-hour Construction Safety and NFPA-70E credentials.
