TL;DR
Staff Environmental Scientist/Certified Site Surveillance Technician (Environmental): Conducting environmental site assessments, hazardous materials surveys, abatement monitoring, and industrial hygiene evaluations with an accent on field data collection, documentation, and technical reporting. Focus on performing site reconnaissance in hazardous conditions, quantifying asbestos and lead materials, coordinating subcontractors, and supporting environmental projects under the direction of a Project Manager.

Location: Irvine, California, USA; in-office with the possibility of one remote day per week

Salary: $75,000–$85,000 per year, depending on qualifications

What you will do

  • Visit project sites frequently as directed by the Project Manager.
  • Acquire permits and review background data, site photographs, and aerial imagery.
  • Support environmental assessments through site reconnaissance, asbestos and lead surveys, abatement monitoring, and industrial hygiene evaluations.
  • Prepare field data, photographic documentation, hazardous materials quantification, field studies, and technical reports.
  • Coordinate and schedule subcontractors, perform basic calculations, and complete special assignments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, geology, environmental science, or a related scientific or technical field; recent graduates are not eligible.
  • Certified Site Surveillance Technician (CSST) or CAC certification, plus a Lead Inspector, Assessor, Project Monitor, or Sampling Technician certification required.
  • At least two years of professional experience performing most or all of the listed duties.
  • Experience with fieldwork, data collection, evaluation, technical writing, and environmental design software.
  • Strong communication, analytical, organizational, time-management, collaboration, and attention-to-detail skills.
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable violation history and ability to work in hazardous field conditions.
