Staff Engineer - Data Engineering (Fintech)

Location: Hybrid work in Scottsdale, San Francisco, Chicago, or New York; candidates must be eligible to work in the United States for any employer.

Salary: $124,000–$165,000 per year in Phoenix, AZ; $174,000–$223,000 per year in San Francisco, CA. Additional discretionary incentive plan and benefits are available.

What you will do

• Build data strategies and technical plans for complex, open-ended platform and product requirements.
• Lead data architecture, system design, prototyping, implementation, and production delivery.
• Develop data warehouses, big data platforms, real-time and batch processing solutions, and event-driven systems.
• Partner with product managers, designers, operations, support, and engineering groups to build features and resolve production issues.
• Develop tests and improve the quality, performance, scalability, security, and reliability of applications and data systems.
• Guide technical planning, influence cross-functional decisions, and improve engineering standards, tooling, and processes.

Requirements

• Eight or more years of relevant experience and a bachelor's degree in computer science or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
• Seven or more years developing complex data platforms, distributed systems, SaaS, cloud solutions, or microservices.
• Six or more years working with data warehouses, big data platforms, structured and unstructured data, real-time and batch processing, and data standards.
• Experience with SQL Server or equivalent, HDFS, Elasticsearch, ETL development, reusable frameworks, Python, Spark, PySpark, R, and data science solutions.
• Experience with event-driven architecture, messaging frameworks, cloud infrastructure, CI/CD, testing, secure coding, SDLC, Agile, Scrum, LEAN, and DevOps practices.
• Must independently possess U.S. work eligibility at the date of hire; visa sponsorship is not available.

Nice to have

• Experience with TensorFlow, SageMaker, scikit-learn, PyCharm, Cloudera, S3, Oracle, Aerospike, Scality S3, AppDynamics, Kubernetes, Databricks, or Snowflake.
• Knowledge of ACH/EFT and real-time payment networks such as RTP and FedNow.
• Fintech experience and a master's degree or PhD.
