Automation and Control System Developer

Location: Montana, United States; positions listed in Missoula, Billings, and Butte. Travel is required as necessary for project needs.

Salary: $66,000–$94,000 per year.

What you will do

• Program project control systems covering SCADA, PLC, HMI, historian, and communications hardware.
• Program, download, test, simulate, and document control-system and communications programs.
• Coordinate control-system activities with design, construction, startup, and client stakeholders.
• Participate in field testing and commissioning.
• Manage project tasks within scope, budget, and schedule.
• Prepare client presentations, project memoranda, reports, and completion documentation.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of engineering experience in the supported discipline, including process-control programming.
• Hands-on experience with PLC logic and HMI integration, including platforms such as Allen Bradley, Modicon, GE, Siemens, FactoryTalk, Wonderware, iFix, Ignition, or VTScada.
• Ability to create and read logic and P&ID diagrams for program design, testing, and startup.
• Associate's degree in engineering or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
• Knowledge of relevant industry standards, proficiency with Microsoft Office, and strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Willingness to travel for project and commissioning needs.

Nice to have

• Experience with water and wastewater facilities, oil and gas, power generation and distribution, mining, or other industrial facilities.
• Leadership experience in control-system programming and development of standard engineering practices.
