Testing & Commissioning Technician III

Location: Lancaster, Pennsylvania; projects across the Mid-Atlantic region. Must have current US work eligibility and a valid USA driver's license. Requires out-of-town travel for up to several weeks at a time, including flexible hours, weekends, holidays, overtime, and night work.

Salary: USD $66.08–$72.03 per hour

What you will do

• Plan, coordinate, perform, and document commissioning from pre-commissioning through construction, testing, energization, and project closeout.
• Commission utility substation protection, control, and power circuits according to project requirements, budgets, and schedules.
• Review wiring diagrams, schematics, engineering documents, and equipment specifications before projects and outages.
• Troubleshoot protection and control systems, substation equipment, wiring, settings, apparatus test results, and battery ground faults.
• Develop testing, commissioning, energization, site risk assessment, and project documentation.
• Prepare, review, and approve detailed equipment test reports and communicate project issues, results, and recommendations.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in testing and commissioning services; electric utility experience is preferred.
• Ability to read construction and manufacturer drawings, specifications, schematic diagrams, and one-line and three-line interconnection diagrams.
• Knowledge of electrical protection systems, relay communication, AC/DC schematics, wiring, and substation protection and control circuits.
• Experience with or ability to learn medium- and high-voltage substation and power plant equipment, apparatus testing, and interpretation of test results.
• Current US work eligibility and a valid USA driver's license issued by the state of residence and in good standing.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including effective client and team communication and negotiation.

Nice to have

• Experience using Doble Protection Suite, ProTest, SEL AcSELerator, or Enoserv RTS.
• Electric utility, protective relay, or power systems field engineering experience.
