Virtual Construction - Reality Capture Technician Associate

Location: Falls Church, Virginia, United States. Based at HITT headquarters with 25–50% travel to local and national construction job sites.

Salary: $72,000–$92,000 per year.

What you will do

• Assist senior specialists with terrestrial laser scanners and SLAM systems for construction-site data acquisition.
• Follow site documentation protocols and support scan planning under supervision.
• Process raw scan data into registered point clouds using ReCap Pro and Leica Cyclone.
• Generate floor heat maps, 3D meshes, visualizations, reports, and progress documentation.
• Support BIM workflows, design verification, existing-condition surveys, and as-built documentation.
• Participate in quality control reviews, safety briefings, and collaboration with multidisciplinary project teams.

Requirements

• 1–2 years of experience in construction, surveying, or geospatial technology; internships are considered.
• Basic understanding of laser scanning, LiDAR, and photogrammetry principles.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and fundamental data-management practices.
• Ability to work safely in construction environments with exceptional attention to detail and strong organization.
• Pursuing or recently completed a technical degree in construction, engineering, or a related discipline.
• Availability to work from Falls Church, Virginia, and travel 25–50% to local and national job sites.

Nice to have

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field.
• Exposure to Digital Twin concepts and workflows.
• Experience with ReCap Pro, FARO Scene, Leica Cyclone, or similar point-cloud processing tools.
• Understanding of coordinate reference systems and basic surveying principles.
• Familiarity with NVIDIA Omniverse, collaborative 3D platforms, or 3D Gaussian Splatting.
