TL;DR
Regional Advocacy Director (US A&SA) (Healthcare Policy and Patient Advocacy): Driving regional advocacy initiatives and partnerships that improve patient access to Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine products with an accent on healthcare policy, payer relations, and stakeholder mobilization. Focus on shaping legislative and reimbursement policies, strengthening care pathways, supporting launch readiness, and coordinating advocacy programs across oncology, immunology, neuroscience, and life sciences.

Location: Virginia or other priority U.S. locations including North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Arkansas, and Washington, D.C. Hybrid role with up to 60% travel, including evenings and weekends.

Base pay range: $122,000–$212,750 per year.

What you will do

  • Execute advocacy initiatives supporting disease awareness, site-of-care education, launch readiness, clinical trial awareness and enrollment, and patient access.
  • Develop advocacy partnerships across oncology, immunology, neuroscience, and the life sciences sector.
  • Build relationships with advocacy leaders, physician societies, patient organizations, and employer coalitions.
  • Educate advocacy stakeholders on payer, federal, and state healthcare policies.
  • Coordinate with Commercial, Brand, National Advocacy, Federal Affairs, State Affairs, Policy, and other internal teams.
  • Manage sponsorship opportunities and monitor Medicare Administrative Contractor activities related to coding, reimbursement, and access.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required; a Master’s degree or MBA is preferred.
  • At least five years of experience in health policy, advocacy, payer relations, pharmaceutical or biotechnology sales or marketing, or related healthcare policy.
  • Strong understanding of complex healthcare markets, including biologics, oncology, and immunology.
  • Excellent communication, strategic planning, cross-functional collaboration, and territory budget management skills.
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license required.
  • Experience with healthcare policy, reimbursement models, grassroots lobbying, or local public affairs campaigns is preferred.

Nice to have

  • Knowledge of IRA, PDABs, 340B, PBM reform, utilization management, ASP, fee-for-service, and managed Medicare or Medicaid.
  • Experience with injectable, infusible, and oral treatments in oncology, immunology, or neuroscience.
  • People management experience and expertise in government policy development.
  • Commitment to learning and applying emerging technologies such as AI.
