TL;DR

Focus on drafting policy proposals, influencing public policy across five states, analyzing regulatory trends, and leading advocacy initiatives with extensive domestic travel.

Location: Denver, Colorado, United States; primary work in Colorado and Arizona, with responsibility for Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico, Montana, and Wyoming. Up to 60% domestic travel is required.

Base pay: $150,000–$258,750 per year.

What you will do

  • Represent Johnson & Johnson and its operating companies before state and local legislative, administrative, regulatory, and executive bodies.
  • Develop and execute strategies shaping state legislative and regulatory processes related to patient and provider access, coverage, reimbursement, and business growth.
  • Draft and advance legislative and regulatory proposals with internal partners and external stakeholders.
  • Build relationships with government branches, trade associations, professional organizations, educational institutions, organized labor, and other policy stakeholders.
  • Analyze legislation, regulations, healthcare trends, and emerging issues, then recommend and manage responses.
  • Lead external engagements, industry associations, steering committees, and internal public-policy workstreams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree or MBA preferred.
  • At least 10 years of business-related experience and 5 years in government or public policy.
  • Prior state- or federal-level lobbying experience.
  • Experience drafting and advancing legislative and regulatory proposals.
  • Thorough understanding of political, legislative, regulatory, and budget-development processes in the assigned states.
  • Strong communication, influencing, prioritization, strategic problem-solving, and execution skills, with the ability to interpret complex healthcare information.

Nice to have

  • Public policy experience in Colorado and Arizona.
  • State affairs experience and experience leading teams across public-policy disciplines.
  • Healthcare industry knowledge, including legislative and regulatory trends, payers, markets, and competition.
  • Interest in emerging technologies such as AI.
