Collections Specialist (AI)

Location: Hybrid role in Cranbury, New Jersey, United States

Salary: $50,000–$55,000 per year, depending on qualifications; eligible for an annual bonus or commission incentive.

What you will do

• Manage and monitor daily accounts receivable activity for an assigned book of business.
• Use AI tools to prioritize aging accounts, draft collection communications, summarize account histories, and improve workflow efficiency.
• Contact past-due customers by phone, email, and written correspondence to secure payment and negotiate resolutions.
• Research invoice, balance, payment-status, and account-discrepancy inquiries.
• Identify and escalate payment risks, reconcile discrepancies, and coordinate with sales, billing, and finance teams.
• Apply incoming payments, maintain collection documentation, review aging reports, and support month-end close, audits, and reporting.

Requirements

• At least 1 year of experience in collections, accounts receivable, finance, or billing.
• Strong knowledge of accounts receivable processes, collections practices, and basic accounting principles.
• Experience using AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, or AI-assisted finance and productivity platforms in collections or accounts receivable work.
• Strong communication, negotiation, organization, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills.
• Ability to manage a high-volume book of business, protect sensitive financial information, and maintain accurate payment coding and reconciliation records.
• Proficiency with accounting or ERP software and Microsoft Excel; an associate's or bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field is preferred.
