Junior Data Engineer (Python)

Location: On-site at Camp Smith, Hawaii, in a SCIF for eight hours per day, five days per week. Remote work and personal electronic devices may be restricted by facility and security requirements.

Salary: $145,000–$170,000 per year

What you will do

• Support the development and maintenance of secure data pipelines and ETL/ELT workflows.
• Process structured and unstructured data into analytics-ready datasets.
• Implement data transformations, validation, modeling, and data-quality practices.
• Work with data scientists, engineers, and mission stakeholders.
• Use platforms such as Databricks, Spark, Palantir Foundry, and Maven Smart Systems.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, data science, engineering, information systems, mathematics, or a related technical field, or equivalent education and experience.
• At least three years of relevant data engineering, software development, data analytics, or enterprise-platform experience.
• Experience with Python, SQL, ETL/ELT pipelines, and data transformations.
• Familiarity with Spark, PySpark, Databricks, version control, testing, documentation, and Agile development.
• Active Top Secret / SCI DoD clearance required before starting.
• Ability to collaborate with technical and nontechnical stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Experience with Palantir Foundry, Maven Smart Systems, or War Data Platform.
• Familiarity with AWS or Azure.
• Exposure to Docker, CI/CD, MLflow, APIs, or Terraform.
• Experience supporting DoD or federal mission environments.
