TL;DR
Heavy Duty Diesel Technician (Diesel Fleet Maintenance): Maintaining and repairing diesel and non-diesel refuse trucks and equipment with an accent on chassis, hydraulic, electrical, braking, engine, suspension, drivetrain, steering, and HVAC systems. Focus on diagnosing multi-system malfunctions, performing road service, and maintaining technically advanced heavy-duty vehicles safely and efficiently.

What you will do

  • Repair and maintain diesel and non-diesel refuse trucks and equipment.
  • Service chassis, refuse bodies, control systems, hydraulic and electrical systems, air brakes, suspension, drivetrain, steering, engines, and HVAC components.
  • Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, basic tire work, welding, and fabrication.
  • Diagnose malfunctions using electronic tools and resolve multi-system issues.
  • Provide safe road service when required to return company equipment to operation.
  • Complete company training programs and support drivers operating their routes.

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of technician experience diagnosing and repairing gasoline- and diesel-powered equipment, or graduation from an accredited automotive college or technical school within the next three months.
  • Experience with Class 1–5 light/medium-duty and Class 7–8 heavy-duty trucks, aircraft, or ships.
  • Ability to perform basic inspections with limited supervision across systems such as suspension, steering, engines, transmissions, brakes, electrical, hydraulics, drivetrain, and diesel emissions.
  • Ability to diagnose multi-system issues and demonstrate technical expertise.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • ASE T1–T8 certifications and a commercial driver’s license are advantageous but not required.
