Senior Engineer (Backend)

Location: Austin, Texas / Anywhere in the USA; hybrid work with onsite client travel required when specified by the project

Salary: $80,000–$400,000 per year

What you will do

• Provide technical leadership as a mentor, team lead, client-facing technologist, or hands-on contributor.
• Contribute across all phases of projects and the software development lifecycle.
• Build high-quality, scalable, production-ready services, APIs, data pipelines, web applications, and cross-platform mobile applications.
• Design software using microservices, service-oriented architecture, object-oriented or functional programming, and component-based approaches.
• Define development, coding, testing, and CI/CD practices while identifying and reducing technical debt.
• Collaborate with internal teams and clients while evaluating new architectures, cloud capabilities, tools, and productivity technologies.

Requirements

• 5+ years of software development experience working in teams.
• Deep knowledge of Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, or Python and their library or framework ecosystems.
• Experience with Agile methodologies such as Scrum, Kanban, or XP.
• Experience designing APIs, data pipelines, scalable software, database schemas, transactions, and relational or NoSQL data stores.
• Experience defining software development best practices, CI/CD pipelines, architectural patterns, and technical-debt remediation strategies.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, information systems, computer science, business administration, or a related field.

Nice to have

• Hands-on experience with AWS, GCP, Azure, Docker, Kubernetes, or Lambda.
• Experience with GitLab CI, CircleCI, Travis CI, CloudFormation, CDK, or Terraform.
