Manufacturing Controls Engineer (2nd Shift) (PLC/Industrial Automation): Developing, implementing, troubleshooting, and maintaining control systems for automated manufacturing equipment with an accent on PLC programming, system reliability, robotics, and process optimization. Focus on integrating safety systems, HMI, SCADA, industrial networks, and robotic equipment while solving production issues and improving equipment uptime.

Location: Jefferson City, Tennessee, United States; onsite manufacturing or production environment; second shift, generally 4:00 pm–2:30 am EST

Salary: $68,600–$109,200 per year

What you will do

  • Develop, configure, integrate, troubleshoot, and maintain process control systems for automated manufacturing equipment.
  • Program and support PLC software, safety systems, HMI packages, SCADA systems, and PC networking technology.
  • Improve equipment reliability, safety, throughput, energy efficiency, and uptime through continuous improvement projects.
  • Resolve production equipment issues and provide technical support across facility processes.
  • Manage equipment and facilities projects, operate test equipment, and analyze resulting data.
  • Create and maintain technical training documentation for plant physical assets.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Internship or co-op experience focused on controls or software development.
  • Availability for second-shift hours is required.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills for controls, robotics, networking, and automated equipment in a production environment.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with noise, dust, moving machinery, temperature changes, extended standing, repetitive motions, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Required use of personal protective equipment when applicable.

Nice to have

  • PLC programming experience with Allen Bradley and Rockwell Automation platforms.
  • Experience with safety scanners, safety PLCs, machine safety systems, and industrial robotics, including FANUC and Yaskawa robots.
  • Experience with robotic welding systems, automated manufacturing equipment, Ignition HMI, AutoCAD, CREO, Windchill, and industrial vision systems.
  • Knowledge of Ethernet, DeviceNet, and fieldbus communications.
