Strategic Communications Leader

Location: Remote - USA; candidates in Atlanta and Boston are prioritized, with hub-based in-person collaboration.

Salary: $182,300–$243,000 per year, plus Flock stock options; no performance bonuses.

What you will do

• Build and execute a proactive external communications and PR strategy for public safety technology.
• Own crisis communications and issues management across public platforms.
• Advise executive leaders, support media training, and develop founder and executive thought leadership.
• Secure high-impact keynotes and top-tier national media placements.
• Establish measurable metrics for brand sentiment, media reach, and narrative control.
• Manage and grow a high-performing media relations team and coordinate external agency support.

Requirements

• 8–10 years of communications, media relations, or PR leadership experience.
• Experience in technology, public policy, or high-growth environments.
• Proven success managing crisis communications and high-stakes public safety or policy narratives.
• Strong relationships with top-tier national media.
• Strong executive presence and experience advising and media-training C-suite leaders.
• Ability to work remotely from the USA.

Nice to have

• Policy communications experience or willingness to learn the function and its key stakeholders.
• Experience in the public sector, law enforcement, or civic technology.
