Senior Reliability Test Engineer (Environmental Testing)

Location: Union City, California, USA; onsite environmental simulation laboratory

What you will do

• Develop test plans and perform, document, and oversee environmental and electrical product testing.
• Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot thermal chambers, vibration tables, shock testers, humidity systems, and other test equipment.
• Analyze test data and failures using root cause analysis, RCCA, FMEA, FTA, Six Sigma, and statistical methods.
• Ensure testing complies with ISO 17025, ASTM, MIL-STD-810, IEC 60068, ISTA, and other applicable standards.
• Develop SOPs, improve laboratory efficiency, automate processes, and support audits and accreditation activities.
• Collaborate with customers, engineers, and technicians; provide technical recommendations and train laboratory personnel.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
• 10+ years of experience in environmental testing, sustaining engineering, or reliability engineering.
• Hands-on experience with climatic, mechanical, and corrosion testing equipment, data acquisition, and test automation.
• Knowledge of LabVIEW, MATLAB, Minitab, Python, failure analysis, predictive maintenance, and statistical process control.
• Authorization to work indefinitely in the United States without restriction or sponsorship is required.
• Ability to follow mechanical and electrical diagrams, lift up to 50 pounds, use power tools and light machining equipment, climb ladders and use scissor lifts, work overtime, and travel as needed.

Nice to have

• Experience in an ISO 17025-accredited laboratory.
• CRE, Six Sigma, or ASQ Quality Engineering certification.
• Product validation, shock, climate, battery, HALT/HASS, or accelerated life testing experience.
• Experience with aerospace, automotive, medical device, or consumer electronics testing and standards such as LV124, VW80000, and ISO 16750.
