Staff R&D Mechanical Engineer

Location: Blue Ash, Ohio, US; hybrid work arrangement. Travel of up to 20% may be required for customer support and off-site testing.

What you will do

• Serve as the technical leader for assigned ILSCO and UTILCO power-connection products.
• Lead product line extensions and development activities from concept through commercialization.
• Translate customer and market requirements into product requirements and engineering specifications.
• Coordinate prototypes, testing, design validation, certifications, product launches, production transfers, and supplier qualifications.
• Drive cost reduction, value engineering, supplier transitions, risk mitigation, and continuous improvement.
• Lead global cross-functional teams and collaborate with manufacturing, quality, sourcing, laboratory, approvals, product management, and sales functions.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Ideally 7+ years of experience in a related engineering field.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and project-management skills.
• Proficiency with SolidWorks assemblies, modeling, drawings, and PDM/PLM systems.
• Hands-on knowledge of metals, polymers, and composite materials, including metal forming, machining, and injection molding.
• Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, self-directed environment and travel up to 20% as needed.
