AlpInvest Embedded Data Scientist (AI)

Location: New York, NY, United States

Base salary: $190,000–$220,000 per year, plus potential annual discretionary incentive compensation.

What you will do

• Partner with investment professionals across Primaries, Secondaries, and Co-Investments to support live investment opportunities.
• Translate investment questions into analytical frameworks, quantitative models, and actionable recommendations.
• Develop GP Scoring methodologies and scalable analytical products for investment workflows.
• Build and deploy machine learning, statistical, and AI-driven solutions, including One-Day Pricing capabilities.
• Apply LLMs, agent-based workflows, and retrieval systems to investment research and diligence.
• Collaborate with engineering and product teams to productionize analytics, automate workflows, and drive adoption.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in a quantitative discipline such as Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Engineering, or Finance.
• 8+ years of relevant technical experience in data science, machine learning, quantitative analytics, applied AI, or a related field.
• Strong Python programming skills and experience with modern data science libraries and frameworks.
• Deep knowledge of statistical modeling, machine learning, experimentation, and predictive analytics.
• Experience building production-grade analytical products and working with structured and unstructured datasets at scale.
• Experience with senior business stakeholders and familiarity with private equity, asset management, investment performance, portfolio analytics, or fund evaluation.

Nice to have

• Experience applying generative AI, LLMs, or agent-based systems.
• Familiarity with cloud-based analytics environments and modern data platforms.
• Experience combining quantitative analysis with business decision-making in investment technology or financial services.
