Backup Recovery Engineer

Location: On-site in Arlington, Virginia, United States; occasional travel of up to 10%.

Salary: $107,000–$220,000 annually.

What you will do

• Manage daily backup and recovery operations, monitor job completion, and resolve backup failures.
• Conduct backup verification and test restores to ensure data recoverability and integrity.
• Implement and maintain backup procedures, schedules, retention policies, and media rotation or off-site storage processes.
• Support disaster recovery and COOP planning, testing, exercises, and recovery procedure documentation.
• Assist with backup infrastructure capacity planning and integration with broader IT service management frameworks.
• Collaborate with system administrators and database administrators to protect critical data.

Requirements

• Current authorization to work full-time in the United States is required; visa sponsorship is not available.
• SECRET security clearance is required.
• Junior: 0–3 years of experience and a bachelor's degree.
• Journeyman: 4–7 years of experience and a bachelor's degree.
• Senior: 8+ years of experience and a bachelor's degree.
• Professional proficiency in English is required. Strong communication skills, self-starter mindset, and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications are also required.

Nice to have

• For junior or journeyman roles: Cloud+, GICSP, GSEC, Security+, or SSCP certification.
• For senior roles: SecurityX/CASP+, CCNP Security, CCSP, FITSP-O, or GFACT certification.
