Senior Systems Engineer (Commvault)

Location: Onsite in support of a government contract; client located in Manassas, Virginia, with the position listed in Washington, DC. US citizenship and an active Public Trust clearance are required.

Salary: $60,000–$180,000 USD per year.

What you will do

• Analyze and evaluate data protection policies and success rates, providing technical guidance.
• Manage production Commvault systems, including Windows media agents, Hyperscale Appliances, Private Metrics Server, client packages, and cloud and storage targets.
• Support recovery requests involving Exchange, Windows and Unix file systems, Oracle databases, and SQL databases.
• Plan, design, and evaluate hardware and software improvements for the enterprise data protection and recovery system.
• Create and maintain standard operating procedures and technical documentation.
• Provide 24/7 support through shift work and travel to multiple data centers as needed.

Requirements

• US citizenship, an active Public Trust clearance, and onsite availability are required.
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
• Experience implementing and managing enterprise data protection and recovery systems.
• Expertise with Commvault, Commvault Hyperscale, AWS, Pure FlashArray and FlashBlade, and NetApp data protection targets.
• Knowledge of Windows, ESX, Solaris, Linux, VMware, cloud technologies, encryption, NAS, block and object storage, BCDR, DFS, converged infrastructure, active/active configurations, Kubernetes, and containers.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and relationship-building skills across technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Nice to have

• NetApp Certified Data Administrator certification.
• AWS Certified Solutions Architect certification at Associate or Professional level.
