Design Intern - Electrical (Year Round) (Automotive)

Pay range: $18.00–$37.00 per hour

Pierce Manufacturing, an Oshkosh company, designs and builds customized pumpers, aerials, tankers, and rescue trucks for communities worldwide.

What you will do

• Create electrical component part numbers in ERP systems according to naming and data-entry standards.
• Prepare engineering drawings, layouts, schematics, engineering change notices, and electrical system bills of material.
• Support component obsolescence management for purchased electrical parts.
• Optimize electrical designs for manufacturing efficiency and coordinate designs with suppliers.
• Use JDE, PULSE, Domino, and Microsoft Office while checking work for accuracy and managing multiple priorities.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing an Associate’s degree in Electrical Design, Electrical Engineering Technology, Electronic Engineering Technology, or a related engineering field throughout the internship.
• Ability to work independently with minimal direction and manage multiple priorities.
• Strong attention to detail and verbal and written communication skills.
• Applicants may need to be U.S. Persons for positions involving controlled goods and technologies under ITAR or EAR regulations.

Nice to have

• Availability for 40 hours per week during the summer and part-time work during the school year.
• GPA of 3.0 or higher.
• Experience with Zuken E3, AutoCAD, CATIA V5, or Windchill.
• Automotive or heavy-equipment repair or design experience, including AC/DC circuit design and relay logic.
• Familiarity with CAN and SAE J1939 protocols.
