Lead Web Press Operator (Web Printing)

Location: Elk Grove Village, Illinois, USA; onsite at the Elk Grove Village facility. Night shift: 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m., 3 days on and 4 days off, rotating every 8 weeks.

Hourly rate: $30.90–$44.60 per hour, plus a $3.00 shift premium and a $2,000 sign-on bonus distributed monthly based on performance review.

What you will do

• Lead press operators and coordinate press crew activities throughout production runs.
• Set up, adjust, operate, and maintain lithographic, offset, gravure, and multi-color web presses.
• Plan and coordinate make-ready work, including plate or cylinder installation, blanket preparation, tension, and register adjustments.
• Make color corrections and press adjustments to meet critical quality, color, registration, imaging, and postal specifications.
• Clean, lubricate, troubleshoot, repair, and perform preventive maintenance on press equipment.
• Document production time, materials, impressions, waste, and run speeds while communicating with prepress, scheduling, maintenance, and other departments.

Requirements

• 7–10 years of web press-printing experience, including previous Press Operator 2 or 3 experience in direct mail or a similar field.
• Strong experience operating a litho press, in-line double web press, Harris M10, and mini web six-color printing press.
• Comprehensive knowledge of press setup, adjustments, materials, specifications, safety requirements, and critical tolerances.
• Knowledge of in-line finishing, die cutting, inserters, imagers, color, and register is required.
• Mechanical aptitude, troubleshooting, problem-solving, communication, and crew coordination skills.
• High school diploma or GED; ability to use a micrometer to mount and align printing plates.
