Applications Engineer (Specialty Gas)

Location: Twinsburg, Ohio, United States; the role is based in the Cleveland area and requires travel up to approximately 50%, including overnight travel.

Salary: $110,000–$125,000 per year

What you will do

• Oversee the sales, specification, quotation, installation, commissioning, and start-up of equipment systems for specialty and process gas applications.
• Act as a technical sales specialist for the sales organization, supporting customers with complete gas, technology, and equipment solutions.
• Design custom engineered systems covering gas delivery, gas monitoring, hazard analysis, and process safety.
• Prepare technical proposals, presentations, layout drawings, and process flow drawings for customers, contractors, and installers.
• Coordinate equipment testing and verify system operation, functionality, safety, and code conformity.
• Train customers, share successful installation information internally, and collaborate with vendors on competitive equipment offerings.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering.
• 5+ years of sales engineering experience in the specialty gas or process chemical industries.
• Knowledge of instrumentation and controls and fluid dynamics for compressible fluids.
• Familiarity with applicable design and safety standards, including CGA, ASME, and NFPA.
• Ability to travel up to approximately 50% and work weekends or holidays when required by project schedules, commissioning, or customer support.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with process chemicals such as hydrogen chloride, sulfur dioxide, or ammonia.
• Experience selling skid-mounted process equipment and high-pressure gas systems.
