TL;DR
Radar Engineer (Radar Systems): Designing, developing, implementing, and integrating next-generation airborne naval radar solutions with an accent on antenna design, RF signal processing, modeling, simulation, and radar performance analysis. Focus on conducting trade studies and risk analyses, assessing radar and tracking performance, and coordinating technical solutions across government laboratories, industry partners, and operational stakeholders.

Location: On-site in Lexington Park, Maryland, United States; no remote work available. Moderate travel of 10%–25% to government and contractor facilities, test sites, and technical meetings.

Salary: $143,660–$215,490 per year for Maryland locations.

What you will do

  • Provide engineering support for the development, integration, testing, and evaluation of a next-generation airborne naval radar for NAVAIR.
  • Assess radar and tracking system performance, flight and ground test methods, and tactical operations.
  • Conduct trade studies and risk analyses, create design models and simulations, and develop radar performance requirements.
  • Provide radar subject matter expertise for developmental and operational test activities.
  • Prepare acquisition and technical documentation and coordinate solutions with government laboratories, industry partners, and operational stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in electrical engineering from an ABET-accredited program, or a physics degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
  • At least 10 years of radar experience, including antenna design and analysis, RF signal processing, radar modeling and simulation, and detection or tracking performance analysis.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for technical material.
  • Active Secret security clearance required.
  • Ability to obtain a final DoD Top Secret security clearance within six months of starting.

Nice to have

  • UHF radar development experience, including airborne surveillance, synthetic aperture radar, electronic warfare, or electronic intelligence systems.
  • Experience with ACAT Level I or II acquisition programs, network-centric warfare, system-of-systems engineering, or multi-platform sensor integration.
  • Peer-reviewed publications, conference presentations, technical program management, and security classification guidance experience.
  • Active Top Secret security clearance.
