Forward Deployed Engineer, Client Solutions Group (AI)

Location: New York, NY; in-office 4 days per week

Base salary: $160,000–$190,000 annually, plus potential annual discretionary incentive compensation.

What you will do

• Partner with Client Solutions Group, Finance, and Fund Management stakeholders across GPE, Credit, and AlpInvest to identify high-impact AI and automation opportunities.
• Translate ambiguous business problems, operational processes, calculation logic, and data sources into technical requirements and target-state designs.
• Architect and deliver AI-ready data foundations, semantic layers, contextual metadata, data contracts, retrieval-ready knowledge stores, and production generative AI applications.
• Build AWS-native infrastructure, backend microservices, data-processing pipelines, calculation logic, serverless workflows, and user-facing full-stack applications.
• Replace manual, spreadsheet-based processes with automated, standardized, auditable solutions while maintaining data lineage from source systems through investor-facing reports.
• Lead architectural design and code reviews, mentor engineers and analysts, coordinate delivery, and strengthen data quality, governance, testing, observability, and security practices.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, data engineering, information systems, or a related field; a master’s degree is preferred.
• At least 6 years of relevant technical experience, including deep full-stack engineering, microservices, systems integration, and technical leadership or architecture.
• Hands-on experience with AI coding agents and AI-driven development practices.
• Strong full-stack proficiency with React, Angular, or Vue and backend microservices implemented in a high-level language or framework.
• Experience deploying AWS applications using Lambda, Step Functions, API Gateway, S3, CloudWatch, and RDS, along with CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code, containers, automated testing, and incremental delivery.
• Understanding of generative AI systems, RAG architectures, vector stores, embeddings, semantic layers, REST APIs, event-driven architectures, secure integrations, data governance, auditability, and compliance.

Nice to have

• Production experience with AWS Bedrock, Databricks, Snowflake Cortex, OpenAI or Anthropic APIs, LangChain or LlamaIndex, MLflow, pgvector, Pinecone, or equivalent tools.
• Experience with Client Solutions Group operations, fund reporting, private equity investor servicing, financial services, BI, or data visualization.
• Master’s degree and generative AI architecture experience involving retrieval, grounding, semantic layers, agents, or structured tool use.
