Vice President - Forward Deployed Engineer (AI)

Location: Boston, Massachusetts; hybrid schedule with at least four days per week in the office and flexibility to work from home one day per week.

Base salary: $242,100–$332,900 per year, plus potential variable compensation.

What you will do

• Partner with portfolio management and investment research teams to identify opportunities and translate investment strategies, research priorities, and business challenges into AI-enabled solutions.
• Design, prototype, and deliver proof-of-concept and production-ready capabilities using advanced analytics, machine learning, and LLM technologies.
• Build tools that improve investment insights, decision-making, research processes, and organizational efficiency.
• Partner with Investments, Technology, Data, Risk, Compliance, engineering, and platform teams to ensure security, governance, scalability, and regulatory compliance.
• Influence the AI and investment technology roadmap by evaluating emerging capabilities and identifying high-value opportunities.
• Lead the transition of successful prototypes into sustainable enterprise capabilities.

Requirements

• 10+ years of combined experience across investment management, quantitative research or strategy, and hands-on software or AI engineering, including taking investment problems from concept to working solution.
• Direct experience working alongside trading desks, portfolio managers, or investment researchers. Desk strategist, quant strategist, or research technologist experience is strongly preferred.
• Hands-on experience building and shipping LLM-enabled or LLM-integrated applications, including RAG, embeddings, agentic workflows, prompt engineering, and API integration.
• Strong Python development skills and experience producing production-quality code.
• Expertise with cloud infrastructure and modern software practices, including CI/CD, version control, and API design.
• Fluency in at least one asset class: equities, fixed income, multi-asset, or macro, at a level enabling active contribution to investment discussions.
• Experience delivering secure, auditable AI solutions in a regulated environment and partnering with risk and compliance.
• Applicants must have valid United States work authorization that does not now or in the future require visa sponsorship, including H-1B, F-1 CPT, F-1 OPT, or TN status.

Nice to have

• Direct experience supporting front-office investment teams, including portfolio managers, analysts, researchers, or traders.
• Familiarity with LangChain, LangGraph, LlamaIndex, MCP, agent frameworks, orchestration tools, and vector databases.
• Experience building internal copilots, research assistants, or document-intelligence tools.
• CFA, FRM, or equivalent investment credential.
• Track record of shipping AI or analytics solutions with measurable real-world outcomes.
