Forward Deployed Engineer (AI)

Location: USA — New York City, NY. Applicants may be required to appear onsite at a hirify.global office during the interview process.

Compensation: $215,100–$384,400 USD annually, plus eligibility for a bonus.

What you will do

• Work with healthcare executives, clinical leaders, informaticists, pharmacists, IT and data teams, and end users to identify high-value workflow problems.
• Translate ambiguous customer needs into use cases, outcome hypotheses, success metrics, acceptance criteria, prototypes, and implementation options.
• Design, code, integrate, test, and deploy prototypes and product extensions using APIs, healthcare data, AI capabilities, and platform services.
• Apply healthcare integration patterns including HL7 FHIR, SMART on FHIR, CDS Hooks, secure APIs, and cloud-native approaches.
• Convert successful field patterns into reusable APIs, connectors, reference architectures, templates, evaluation harnesses, playbooks, and product backlog input.
• Build responsible AI-enabled workflows with human oversight, auditability, monitoring, security, privacy, and healthcare data governance.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, biomedical informatics, data science, health informatics, engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• 7+ years of experience in software engineering, customer-facing engineering, solution architecture, technical product management, or related product technology roles.
• Production-quality software experience in enterprise or regulated environments, with strong programming ability in Python, TypeScript/JavaScript, Java, C#, Go, or comparable languages.
• Healthcare technology experience across clinical workflows, EHR, payer, pharmacy, healthcare data platforms, or digital health.
• Experience with AI/GenAI, LLMs, RAG, agentic workflows, AI evaluation, prompt or retrieval testing, or responsible AI governance.
• Ability to turn stakeholder problems into requirements, prototypes, working software, measurable outcomes, and scalable product capabilities.

Nice to have

• Advanced degree in a relevant field.
• Mobile development experience.
• Experience with RxNorm, SNOMED CT, LOINC, ICD-10, CPT, NDC, Epic, Oracle Health/Cerner, MEDITECH, Athenahealth, or payer platforms.
