Controls Technician

Location: Lakeland, Florida, United States; onsite manufacturing plant role

What you will do

• Maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and improve plant electrical, controls, and automation systems.
• Diagnose complex electrical, electronic, mechanical, PLC, HMI, SCADA, robotics, servo, and process-control failures using root cause analysis.
• Install, modify, validate, and document electrical wiring and control components while following code and Management of Change procedures.
• Perform preventive and predictive maintenance, manage work orders and maintenance records in SAP or an equivalent CMMS, and support reliability and waste-reduction initiatives.
• Support industrial communication networks, refrigeration, bulk ingredient systems, and other manufacturing process equipment.
• Collaborate with maintenance, engineering, operations, vendors, and contractors; provide technical guidance and train technicians and operators.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Vocational or technical training in electrical, electronics, or industrial controls, or at least five years of relevant experience.
• Demonstrated ability to independently troubleshoot and repair complex control systems.
• Knowledge of PLC diagnostics and programming support, Ladder Logic, I/O diagnostics, SCADA/HMI systems, servo systems, VFDs, robotics, PID loops, sensors, instrumentation, and electrical systems from 24V DC to 480V AC.
• Ability to read electrical schematics, ladder logic, and engineering drawings; familiarity with industrial networks such as Ethernet/IP, DeviceNet, ControlNet, Modbus, and DH+.
• Must be willing to work a 2-2-3 schedule with 12-hour shifts, including nights, weekends, and overtime.

Nice to have

• Technical certification or diploma in Industrial Controls or Automation.
• Five or more years of PLC troubleshooting experience using Ladder Logic.
• Experience with Allen-Bradley hardware and software platforms.
• Experience supporting robotic or automated manufacturing systems.
