Database Engineer - Database as a Service (DBaaS)

Location: Bratislava, Slovakia; hybrid work arrangement

Base salary: EUR 2,800–4,600 per month for a full-time role, plus performance-based variable compensation.

What you will do

• Support and improve enterprise Oracle and PostgreSQL database platforms.
• Perform database administration, troubleshooting, SQL tuning, and operational support.
• Strengthen reliability, availability, backup, recovery, and disaster recovery capabilities.
• Develop scripts, tools, and Infrastructure as Code solutions to automate database operations.
• Support modernization and self-service capabilities across private cloud, public cloud, and database services.
• Collaborate with application and cloud platform teams, participate in agile delivery, and resolve high-priority incidents.

Requirements

• Experience administering Oracle and/or PostgreSQL databases in enterprise environments.
• Understanding of database performance analysis, SQL tuning, high availability, backup, recovery, and operational support.
• Experience with scripting and automation using Shell/Bash, PL/SQL, Python, or similar tools.
• Experience working with Linux-based environments and strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Professional proficiency in English.
• Hybrid work from Bratislava, Slovakia.

Nice to have

• Experience with Oracle RAC, Exadata, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, or PostgreSQL operations.
• Experience with Azure, OCI, AWS, Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD, DevOps, monitoring, and observability platforms.
• Oracle or cloud-related certifications.
• Interest in AIOps, machine learning, or statistical modelling.
