Senior Database Platform Engineer (Oracle)

Location: Strada Regina 40, Bioggio, Canton Ticino, Switzerland; hybrid and flexible working is available for most roles.

What you will do

• Automate the complete Oracle database lifecycle, including provisioning, cloning, refreshes, reconfiguration, backup, recovery, and decommissioning.
• Build operational workflows for database restarts, resizing, housekeeping, parameter changes, Oracle Home switches, and incident recovery.
• Manage database configuration through GitOps, ensuring version control, traceability, and auditability.
• Develop backup, recovery, and disaster recovery automation, including Data Guard Broker switchovers and DR testing.
• Maintain immutable operating system and Oracle Home images while supporting large-scale database refreshes across development, testing, and support environments.
• Contribute code, participate in peer reviews, operate CI/CD pipelines, and collaborate with architects, platform engineers, service operations, and DBAs.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience as an Oracle DBA or Database Engineer in a production, mission-critical environment.
• Strong Oracle expertise covering installation, patching, upgrades, Oracle Home and parameter management, Data Guard, RMAN, backup and recovery, TDE, cloning, refreshes, and performance troubleshooting.
• Hands-on automation experience with Ansible, Terraform or OpenTofu, Git, GitOps, CI/CD pipelines, Python, and Shell scripting.
• Solid knowledge of public cloud platforms, preferably OCI, as well as Linux, storage, networking, secrets management, and Kubernetes.
• Experience in regulated and security-conscious environments, including auditability, segregation of duties, vulnerability management, and patch management.
• Effective communication skills in English are required.
