Lead Mechanical Engineer (Quantum Computing Hardware)

Location: Broomfield, Colorado, United States; on-site with approved remote work up to 2 days per week

Salary: $152,000–$190,000 annually, plus an incentive bonus target

What you will do

• Own the mechanical design and industrialization of physics package and MOT subsystems from initial concepts through production release.
• Refine product architecture, define tolerances, and improve manufacturability, reliability, serviceability, yield, and cost.
• Develop, validate, and improve manufacturing processes for physics packages, MOT systems, and ultra-high vacuum hardware.
• Design tooling, fixtures, test equipment, and production workstations for repeatable and scalable manufacturing.
• Collaborate with physicists, engineers, technicians, suppliers, and manufacturing stakeholders during product transition and ongoing improvements.
• Lead technical investigations, root-cause analysis, engineering changes, and data-driven improvements to product and manufacturing performance.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• At least 7 years of mechanical engineering, manufacturing engineering, or product development experience.
• Must be a U.S. Person: U.S. citizen, permanent resident or green card holder, or worker granted asylum or refugee status.
• Due to U.S. Government national security requirements, candidates must not be nationals of the People’s Republic of China or Russia unless also a U.S. citizen.
• Experience with CAD and PLM/PDM systems for product designs, documentation, releases, and change orders.
• Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and technical problem-solving skills.

Nice to have

• Advanced engineering degree.
• Experience taking complex prototype hardware into production and owning products across their full lifecycle.
• Knowledge of DFM, DFA, tolerance analysis, and engineering change management.
• Experience with UHV systems, precision mechanical assemblies, optics, photonics, atomic physics hardware, or scientific instrumentation.
• Experience developing manufacturing processes, tooling, fixtures, test equipment, and workflows for low-volume, high-complexity products.
