Location: Fremont, California, United States

Salary: $138,100–$207,100 USD annually, plus equity and benefits.

What you will do

  • Design and analyze large vacuum seals for water-to-air, air-to-high-vacuum, and water-to-high-vacuum transitions.
  • Lead experimental design, testing, and risk-reduction activities with internal teams, suppliers, and academic partners.
  • Research novel sealing techniques and define, execute, and evaluate test campaigns.
  • Perform FMEA and tolerance stack-up analyses to improve seal reliability and system safety.
  • Present technical work, support system-level integration, and provide subject-matter expertise on sealing strategies.
  • Document sealing processes and validation data, mentor junior engineers, and coordinate component purchasing with suppliers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of mechanical design experience focused on vacuum seals and systems.
  • Experience with rough, high, and ultra-high vacuum environments.
  • Strong proficiency in CAD, FEM, and engineering analysis tools.
  • Expertise in tolerance analysis, FMEA, seal design, and mechanical integration.

Nice to have

  • Experience designing and assembling high-vacuum systems.
  • Experience using Creo.
  • Experience with high-voltage electrical work.
  • Experience implementing instrumentation, controls, and software.
